Alice Springs School of the
Air offers a wide range of educational services and activities to
isolated primary children in the southern half of the Northern Territory,
the extreme north of South Australia and the south-east of Western
Australia. The school's Visitor's Centre in Alice Springs is also popular
with local and international tourists. The Centre provides tourists with a
view of lessons in action and background information on the school, how it
operates, and the lifestyle of the students enrolled.
Yolngu
Radio Service ARDS has established a Yolngu Radio Service to meet the
information access, self-learning and adult education needs of the Yolngu
people of north-east Arnhem Land. This service has been developed through
the provision of grants obtained through various government departments and
charitable donations. Yolngu Radio is now broadcasting on 1530 AM in
Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Darwin and Palmerston. There are plans to expand our
coverage across the north-east Arnhem Land Region. Yolngu Radio can also be
received Australia wide via a free-to-air signal on the Aurora satellite
platform.
