• 10 April to 2 May 2010 - Alice Springs Cup Carnival - Annual horse racing carnival held at Alice Springs Turf Club.
   
• 22 April to 12 May 2010 - Pink Bun - An annual national fundraiser for breast cancer. Purchase a pink finger bun or a paper Pink Lady and 100% of the profits will be donated to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
   
• 29 April to 28th October 2010 - Mindil Beach Sunset Markets The Mindil Beach Sunset Market will commence on the 29th April 2010 and will operate every Thursday and Sunday till the 28th October 2010.
   
• 3 May (Monday) 2010 - May Day - Public Holiday. (see AU school and public holiday dates.)
   
• 3 May (Monday) 2010 - Bangtail Muster - An annual street parade raising funds for the Alice Springs Youth Centre. The event is free and starts at the Alice Springs Memorial Club and finishes at the Anzac Oval.
   
• 7 May (Friday) 2010 - Starlight Day - A national fundraiser for the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia, a children's charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children. Support Starlight Day by making a donation or purchasing merchandise such as star key rings, Starlight shopping bags, bracelets, blow up soccer balls, star pens and flashing star wands in your area at selected shopping centres and train stations nationally on Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 May.
   
• 7 May (Friday) 2010 - National Walk Safely to School Day - Aims to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment.
   
• 9 May (Sunday) 2010 - Mothers Day Second Sunday in May
   
• Trees for Mum - free national event offers motherless children a way to remember their mum, and celebrate the beauty of life, by planting a tree in her honour.
   
• 10 to 16 May 2010 - National Volunteer Week - An opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the more than 5 million Australians who volunteer (see volunteer groups in the Northern Territory).
   
• 13 to 16 May 2010 - Eye of the Storm Writer's Festival - Alice Springs, Northern Territory (for more writers' festivals and events, see BCL Books).
   
• 14 May (Friday) 2010 - Loud Shirt Day - Wear a loud shirt and raise funds for deaf children around Australia.
   
• 14 to 16 of May, 2010 - Freds Pass Annual Rural Show Freds Pass Reserve, established in 1977 is approximately 31 kms south from Darwin City. The Freds Pass Rural Show is an annual event providing a regional focus on productivity, enterprise and community. The aim of the Show is to provide a forum to showcase the diverse range of industries including pastoralism, agriculture, horticulture, mining and manufacture as well as to provide an opportunity for community groups to hold their annual fundraising.
   
• 22 May (Saturday) 2010 - Bass in the Grass - An annual music festival.
   
• 26 May (Wednesday) 2010 - Sorry Day
   
• 26 May (Wednesday) 2010 - National Simultaneous Storytime - An annual campaign organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, in which a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously to children in a variety of venues around Australia. The book for 2010 is Little White Dogs Can't Jump.
   
• 27 May (Thursday) 2010 - Australia's Biggest Morning Tea - Anyone can host a morning tea during May or June. All funds raised help The Cancer Council fund research, prevention and support services for patients and families.
   
• 28 to 30 May 2010 - Merrepen Arts Festival at Daly River - an indigenous arts festival
   
• 29 May (Saturday) 2010 - Katherine Country Music Muster
   
• 29 May (Saturday) 2010 - 65 Roses Day - The annual national awareness day for Cystic Fibrosis. Funds raised will go towards research projects and support services for children and young adults living with CF.

• To be confirmed 2011 - Arafura Games - International sporting competition for emerging champions of the Asia Pacific region. Held every two years in Darwin, the capital of Australia's Northern Territory, the Arafura Games is billed as a meeting of Sporting Neighbours and attracts developing athletes from the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
