*Book Week 2010 - August 21st to 27th

Book Week is the longest running children's festival in Australia and is celebrating its 65th year in 2010. Running from Saturday August 21 to Friday August 27, the theme for this year is across the story bridge.

Every year, Book Week, which is run by the Children's Book Council of Australia, aims to highlight and promote the importance and enjoyment of reading among young Australians. Many schools, public libraries and children's organisations run activities and dress-up parades throughout the week.

The winners of the 2009 CBCA Book of the Year were announced on the eve of Book Week, Friday August 21 2009.

Book Week 2011 will run from August 20 to August 26 and the theme will be One World, Many Stories.

For information about Children's Book Council of Australia activities in your state, see the state branch websites.
