October Events in Brisbane and Queensland

  • Friday 4 to Sunday 13 October 2013 – National Organic Week Australia (NOW) is 10 days of activities designed to increase awareness of the benefits of organic products and farming production systems and accelerate the uptake of these in the wider Australian community and environment.
  • 6 October (Sunday) 2013 – Daylight saving begins 2.00 am in southern states – NOT Queensland. See time zones for more information.
  • 7 October (Monday) 2013 – Labour Day – Public holiday “On Tuesday, 30 October 2012, amendments to the Holidays Act 1983 were passed by Parliament prescribing that from 2013, the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen’s Birthday) public holiday is to be observed on the second Monday in June and the Labour Day public holiday is to be observed on the first Monday in October. ” (ref) (See AU school and public holiday dates.)
  • 8 October (Tuesday) 2013 – QLD School Term 4 begins – (Australian school holiday dates.)
  • 10 October (Thursday) 2013 – National Firefighters Remembrance Day held each year on the 10th day of the 10th month
