North Canberra Accommodation
Canberra North Restaurants
- Kingsland Vegetarian Restaurant, Shop 5, Dickson Plaza, 28 Challis Street Dickson, ACT Australia, 2602
CUISINE: Chinese,Vegetarian, BYO
AMBIENCE: Relaxed,Child-friendly
"I can't believe it's not meat!" Is an often heard exclamation at Kingsland, a vegan restaurant in Canberra's China Town district that is wowing both vegetarians and carnivores alike. Kingsland's amazing menu includes wholly original creations as well as many vegan versions of favourite meat based Asian dishes (such as Beef and Black Bean and Mongolian Lamb).
But, as owner and chef Wong Lee is quick to point out, Kingsland is not about simply emulating the taste and texture of meat. With his diverse range of recipes, Lee challenges the common perception that vegetarian meals are bland and uninspiring and demonstrates the amazing results that can be achieved with a little bit of effort and imagination.
Whether you're a vegan or a staunch carnivore you'll be delighted by Kingsland's unique and diverse range of tastes and textures.
- Restaurant 2602, Unit 2/15 Edgar Street Ainslie, ACT Australia, 2602
CUISINE: Modern Australian,Seafood,
AMBIENCE: Relaxed,Contemporary
"There's nothing to suggest that this quiet corner of Ainslie shops would be home to such a gem, but here it is. Restaurant 2602 is a restaurant/cafe that's passionate about fresh, organic produce."
"There's some truth to the idea that if you love what you do then others will love it too, and this might explain the popularity of Restaurant 2602. When owner and chef Ben Eveille talks you can hear the passion and excitement in his voice. A cross between a cafe and a restaurant, the menu, which is focused around the use of fresh, organic produce, changes every few days as Eveille experiments with his craft."

- Sage Restaurant, Gorman House Ainslie Avenue Braddon, ACT Australia, 2612
CUISINE: Modern Australian,
AMBIENCE: Relaxed,Contemporary,Trendy
Sage’s philosophy seems almost arrestingly simple: treat your customers to the finest food and service and let the rest follow naturally. It helps, of course , if your kitchen boasts a chef of Moore’s calibre with an exceptional flair for Modern Australian cuisine. Moore’s menu really is to be cherished – his renowned signature dish, confit of duck, holds such a special place in popular affection that past attempts to take it off the menu have almost broken hearts. In the end, the duck stayed and Canberra rejoiced, proving yet again that Sage is among those restaurants the capital holds dearest.
- Tilley's Devine Cafe Gallery, Corner of Brigalow & Wattle Street Lyneham, ACT Australia, 2602
CUISINE: Modern Australian,Tapas,
AMBIENCE: Relaxed,Contemporary,Live music
Tilley's Devine Cafe Gallery should be a compulsory first port of call for people who are visiting Canberra for the first time. Central, yet out of the way, competely Canberra and yet so different to aything else on offer, the place seems guaranteed to imbue our fair city with a positive vibe that will hopefully linger with newcomers for the rest of their visit.
