  • 3 to 5 October 2008 - Tainn Hunter Classic Charity Softball Tournament - Mixed slowpitch tournament that donates all proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities, Telstra Childflight and the Hunter Medical Research Institute.   • 7 to 10 October 2008 - Pan Pacific Netball Championships, the biggest junior international event of the year proudly hosted by Netball ACT. The Pan Pacific games are open to all clubs, schools and districts from any country that borders the Pacific Ocean, and competitions are open for the following age groups: 13's, 14's, 15's, 16's, 17's and 18's.
     
  • 8 October (Wednesday) 2008 - ACT Dementia Network: 'People with dementia and the National Gallery' - Dr Mike Bird will talk about the Pilot Program and present results from the evaluation that was done with people with dementia and the National Gallery. RSVP essential, call 6255 0722.

  • 6 September to 11 October 2008 - Ranger Guided Activities - Free and low-cost ranger-guided activities around Canberra's parks and nature reserves. See native animals and learn about Australian history, conservation, and endangered species. Ideal for families and children. Activities include: bush regeneration; bush songs and poetry; scavenger hunt; wombat, kangaroo, and platypus walks; guided forest walks; dance activities; and Indigenous art and craft.
     
  • 12 October (Sunday) 2008 - GetUp! Climate Torch Relay Grand Finale - The theme of the relay and the accompanying petitions is in support of a 50% reduction in Australia's greenhouse gases by 2020. 10:00am at Reconciliation Place where we will make a huge human sign and then walk to Parliament House to present the torches and petitions. Plus entertainment, food and more.
     
  • 13 September to 12 October 2008 - Floriade 21: Films That Shaped Our Nation - Themed floral display with over a million spring bulbs and annuals. This year's theme for the 21st anniversary is Australian films. Commonwealth Park, Canberra.

    • Every Saturday - Digital Video Workshops - Discover the tricks of nature-based digital filmmaking.   • 1 September to 16 October 2008 - Tiwest Night Stalk - A national citizen-based spotlight survey to determine numbers and distribution of Australian native species and feral pests. Anyone can do it, all you need is a torch and a sense of adventure. See the website for instructions and a spotter's log.
     
  • 16 October (Thursday) 2008 - Hartley Lifecare Trivia Night - A fundraising trivia night with cash prizes and charity auction for Hartley Lifecare (a not-for-profit organisation supporting people with physical and complex disabilities, their carers and families). 7pm, Hellenic Club, Woden.
