Support and Networking - Darwin & NT

• Aboriginal Resource and Development Services Inc (ARDS) Working with Indigenous people any where in the world is a massive challenge. They face so many barriers at the cross-cultural and cross language interface. Since 1973, ARDS has worked at the 'cutting edge' of Aboriginal community development work, mainly in the north-east Arnhem Land region of Australia.
• Alcoholics Anonymous Australia - A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Search online for a meeting near you.
• Amyloidosis Support Groups - Face to face support groups, resources, phone and e-mail help and guidance. Also have and email support group.
• Autism Development and Parenting Therapies Forum (ADAPT)
• The Australian Lung Foundation  Patient Support Groups - Northern Territory - A not-for-profit Public Benevolent Institution.
• The Cancer Council Northern Territory - Support services and groups, and information on cancer.
• Cancer Carers Support - Grief Support, Public Speaking Service, Inspirational Books and Poetry, Pain Management Advice and Asbestos Disease Information and Support.
• Cradle NT Inc - Support group for parents and their families who have suffered the loss of a child of any age through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or any other tragedy.
• Food Intolerance Network - Support for families using a low-chemical elimination diet, with local contacts and email support groups.
• Grow  - Community mental health organisation, with contact details for Grow NT.
• Kids Help Line is Australia's only free, confidential and anonymous, 24-hour telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between five and 18.
• Leukaemia Foundation
• Narcotics Anonymous Australia  - Lists Darwin meeting times.
• Northern Territory Carers Association Inc.  - Support services for carers.
• Sids and Kids Northern Territory  - Dedicated to saving the lives of babies and helping anyone affected by the death of a child from conception onwards, with all services provided free of charge.
• Victims of Crime NT  - A community-based organisation to support victims affected by crime.
• Yolngu Radio Service ARDS has established a Yolngu Radio Service to meet the information access, self-learning and adult education needs of the Yolngu people of north-east Arnhem Land. This service has been developed through the provision of grants obtained through various government departments and charitable donations. Yolngu Radio is now broadcasting on 1530 AM in Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Darwin and Palmerston. There are plans to expand our coverage across the north-east Arnhem Land Region. Yolngu Radio can also be received Australia wide via a free-to-air signal on the Aurora satellite platform.
