  • 18 July to 4 August 2008 - Desert Symphony - A new collection of oil paintings by Brisbane artist Des Rolph. Opening night Friday 18 July, from 6pm. Harriet Art Space, 2/2 Harriet Place, Darwin. For more information call Paul Johnston on 8941 2220.
     
  • 8 to 12 August 2008 - Garma - The Garma Festival, Australia's most significant annual indigenous cultural event.

  • 11 August (Monday) 2008 - Children's Class, Scottish Country Dancing - This class is for children aged 8 to 13, of all nationalities; beginners are welcome. It takes children from beginners level and develops rhythm, phrasing, physical control and balance and social mixing. $30 annual membership and $3.00 per class attendance.   • 16 August (Saturday) 2008 - Social Scottish Country Dancing - 12 consecutive lessons in Social Scottish Country Dancing, each Saturday, from 1-3 pm, for only $40. No prior experience needed - we'll teach you! No need to bring a partner. Good fun, good company, keep healthy, fit and and alert, and make friends. For ages 10 to fit 90s - whole families can dance together! After completion of the course there are regular weekly classes to attend, all run at Malak Community Centre by internationally qualified and experienced teachers.   • 22 August (Friday) 2008 - Daffodil Day - support the Cancer Council Australia by buying a bunch of daffodils or Daffodil Day merchandise, volunteering at a merchandise stall, selling merchandise at your workplace or school, or making a cash donation.   • 30 August (Saturday) 2008 - Annual Henley-On-Todd (Alice Springs) The Territory's longest running iconic event! Join in, have fun, or just enjoy the hilarity from under the shade of gum trees on the edge of the dry Todd River bed, and help raise funds for charity.
     
  • April to October 2008 - Mindil Beach Sunset Markets - Enjoy the tastes of five continents all in the space of a leisurely walk along the stunning setting of Mindil Beach, Darwin. The market is famed for the huge range and quality of its art and craftwork. Thursdays 5pm-10pm and Sundays 4pm-9pm.
