Composting Awareness Week Australia (ICAW), is a week of
activities, events and publicity to improve awareness about the
importance of this valuable organic resource and to promote compost use,
knowledge and products. We can compost to help scrap carbon
pollution by avoiding landfilling organic materials and helping to build
healthier soils.
11 to 18 May 2013 - Arafura
Games - International sporting competition for emerging
champions of the Asia Pacific region. Held every two years in Darwin, the
capital of Australia's Northern Territory, the Arafura Games is billed
as a meeting of Sporting Neighbours and attracts developing athletes
from the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
Pink Bun - An
annual national fundraiser
for breast cancer. Purchase a pink finger bun or a
paper Pink Lady and 100% of the profits will be donated to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Bangtail Muster
- An annual street parade raising funds for the Alice Springs Youth
Centre. The event is free and starts at the Alice Springs Memorial
Club and finishes at the Anzac Oval.
National
Simultaneous Storytime - An annual campaign organised by
the Australian Library and Information Association, in which a picture book,
written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read
simultaneously to children in a variety of venues around Australia.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea
- Anyone can host a morning tea during May or June. All funds raised help
The
Cancer Council fund research, prevention and support services for
patients and families.
65 Roses Day -
The annual national awareness day for Cystic Fibrosis. Funds raised will go
towards research projects and support services for children and young adults
living with CF.
