• 1 August (Saturday) 2009 - Gift Of Life Gala Dinner - An annual fundraiser for equipment, resources and research for the Gold Coast Health Service District. • 31 July to 2 August 2009 - Armidale International Film Festival - 13 international films screening at the Belgrave cinema.

• 2 to 9 August 2009 - National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week

• 22 August to 6 September 2009 - Tastes of Gold Coast - The food and wine festival includes live music, cooking workshops and demonstrations, celebrity chefs and more in various venues on the Gold Coast. (See Gold Coast accommodation.)
   
• 23 to 29 August 2009 - Hearing Awareness Week - Annual, national event which raises community awareness about hearing loss and ways to protect hearing.
   
• 28 August (Friday) 2009 - Daffodil Day - Support the Cancer Council Australia by buying a bunch of daffodils or Daffodil Day merchandise, volunteering at a merchandise stall, selling merchandise at your workplace or school, or making a cash donation. All funds raised support cancer research, prevention programs and support services for cancer patients and their families. (See also No School Today: Fundraising Activities.)
   
• 28 to 30 August 2009 - Gold Coast Show - Entry is $15 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, $5 for children under 14, and free for children preschool age and under. Parklands Showgrounds, Cnr Smith St and Parklands Dr, Southport.

• To be confirmed 2009 - The Drumley Walk 2009 - An annual 3 day walk through the lands of the Yugambeh people. Along the way traditional land owners share stories about the history of the indigenous peoples, legends and native foods. To participate register online.
