• 3 December (Thursday) 2009 - International Day of People with Disability - Aims to promote an understanding of people with a disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being. Visit the website to find events in Queensland.
   
• 30 November to 4 December 2009 - Party Week - An over 18s celebration usually held in the week after Schoolies.
   
• 14 November to 5 December 2009 - Stepping Out - A comedy about a group of people attending a community tap-dancing class. Performing at the Gold Coast Little Theatre, 21A Scarborough St, Southport.
   
• 5 December (Saturday) 2009 - International Volunteer Day
   
• 5 & 6 December 2009 - Canetoad Pestival Weekend - Toad hunting and racing, music, a live crocodile and reptile show, seminars, and more at The Bearded Dragon, Tamborine.
   
• 6 December (Sunday) 2009 - Carols at Varsity Lakes - Free children's activities from 5.00 pm including a jumping castle, an animal nursery, circus games, and Christmas card making. Carols from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm. The event includes a visit from Santa and fireworks in Central Park, Lake St, Varsity Lakes.
   
• 7 December (Monday) 2009 - A Jazzy Little Christmas - Featuring vocalist Lesley Rose and presented by the Gold Coast City Jazz Club. Tickets are $15 for members, $18 for Sharks members, and $20 for guests. 7.00 pm to 10.30 pm at Southport Sharks, Cnr Musgrave and Olsen Ave, Southport.
   
• 10 December (Thursday) 2009 - International Human Rights Day
   
• 11 December (Friday) 2009 - Queensland Last day of School Year (see AU school holidays)
  Queensland state schools north of the 16th parallel of south latitude or west of the 144th meridian of east longitude; or at Alpha, Aramac, Augathella, Barcaldine, Blackall, Cameron Downs, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Hughenden, Ilfracombe, Isisford, Jericho, Longreach, Muttaburra, Prairie, Quilpie, Tambo, Wyandra or Yaraka finish the school year one week earlier than other state schools.
   
• 11 December (Friday) 2009 - Tamla Motown and 70s Soul Night - Entry is $10. 8.00 pm to 12.00 pm at Billy's Surf House, Cnr Hanlan St and the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise (for 70s costume ideas see Themes4Parties).
   
• 12 December 2009 to 14 February 2010 - The Stan and Maureen Duke Gold Coast Art Prize - Open to all art forms except photography. Showing at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise.
   
• 22 November to 14 December 2009 - Schoolies Week - An annual celebration for high school leavers in Australia.
   
• 16 to 23 December 2009 - 18th UnitingCare Christmas Appeal - Give a gift to someone in need in the local community this Christmas. Select a gift tag to buy or make a present to place under the UnitingCare Christmas tree at the front of every Target store.
   
• *18 December (Saturday) 2010 - Gold Coast Writers' Association Monthly Meeting - The Gold Coast Writers’ Association meets on the third Saturday of every month at Fradgley Hall, Burleigh Heads Library, Park Ave, Burleigh Heads. Time is 1.30pm for 2pm. Guest speakers; book launches; authors’ readings, plus afternoon tea. $4 members; $7 non-members.
