* July 2010 Events on the Gold Coast 

  • Throughout June, July, and August 2010 - MS Readathon - The annual readathon aims to encourage reading while raising awareness and funds for Multiple Sclerosis. Participants will read for 30 days at any time during the three month period. To take part in the challenge visit the website (see also No School Today: Fundraising Activities).
     
  • 2 July (Friday) 2010 - End of NSW School Term 2 - (see AU school holidays.)
     
  • 3 & 4 July 2010 - Gold Coast Airport Marathon - The annual event features a 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km run, 5km challenge and junior dash races for the kids over 4km and 2km (see Gold Coast accommodation).
     
  • 4 July (Sunday) 2010 - American Independence Day - (see costume and party ideas at Themes4Parties).
     
  • 4 to 11 July 2010 - NAIDOC Week - National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee hosts NAIDOC week each year in July. Various activities will take place across Australia.
     
  • 13 July (Tuesday) 2010 - Queensland School Term 3 begins - (see AU school holidays). 
     
  • 14 July (Wednesday) 2010 - Bastille Day
     
  • 15 to 25 July 2010 - Jumpers and Jazz - A jazz festival that celebrates winter. Artists create colourful jumpers for the 80 trees that line the main street of Warwick (see Warwick).
     
  • 17 July (Saturday) 2010 - Gold Coast Writers' Association Monthly Meeting - The Gold Coast Writers’ Association meets on the third Saturday of every month at Fradgley Hall, Burleigh Heads Library, Park Ave, Burleigh Heads. Time is 1.30pm for 2pm. Guest speakers; book launches; authors’ readings, plus afternoon tea. $4 members; $7 non-members.
     
  • 17 to 30 July 2010 - Leukaemia Foundation Doorknock Appeal - Volunteers will be doorknocking to raise vital funds for the five Queenslanders diagnosed each day with leukaemia and related blood disorders. Funds collected will go towards research and supporting patients and their families.
     
  • 20 July (Tuesday) 2010 - NSW School Term 3 begins (see AU school holidays).
     
  • 23 to 25 July 2010 - Annual Rotary Antiques Fair and Gold Coast Book Fair - Waterways Community Centre, Cnr Hooker Bvd and Sunshine Pde, Broadbeach.
     
  • 30 July (Friday) 2010 - Schools Tree Day 2010 - Register your school with Planet Ark.
     
  • To be confirmed 2010 - Cancer Council Call to Arms - An annual, national event to raise funds and awareness of cancer, a disease that effects 1 in 2 men by age 85. Host a Call to Arms match where the players in your sporting club wear a yellow armband in a show of support to men who have survived cancer, those currently facing the cancer fight and to remember mates who have lost their lives to cancer. All funds raised go to the Cancer Council.

  • To be confirmed 2010 - Canungra Rodeo
     
  • To be confirmed 2010 - National Nanna's Night - Organised by Mercy Health. The event aims to raise awareness about Australia’s ageing population, future health needs and the need for care and inclusion of the aged.
     
  • To be confirmed 2010 - Annual Pioneer Rally - 29th annual event featuring heritage working displays, arts and crafts, steam, diesel and oil engines, classic and vintage cars and entertainment.
