- Throughout July 2009 -
Cancer Council Call to Arms
- An annual, national event to raise funds and awareness of cancer,
a disease that effects 1 in 2 men by age 85. To participate,
nominate any day in July to host a Call to Arms match where the
players in your sporting club wear a yellow armband in a show of
support to men who have survived cancer, those currently facing the
cancer fight and to remember mates who have lost their lives to
cancer. All funds raised go to the Cancer Council. Any sporting club
can join, so register by 26 June, contact 1300 65 65 85.
- 2 July (Thursday) 2009 -
Queen - It's Kinda Magic
- A Queen tribute show featuring over 20 original
songs from the group including We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Fat
Bottom Girls, We Are the Champions and more. Tickets are $69.90 for
adults and $59.90 for children, seniors and pensioners. For tickets

- 4 July (Saturday) 2009 - Free Lunar Star Party for IYA -
Hosted by the Southern Astronomical Society of the Gold Coast. In
celebration of the International Year of Astronomy. Participants are
invited to view Saturn and more through telescopes provided for free by
the society. 5.30pm to 8.30pm in
the Esplanade North Park, Paradise Point. In the case of clouds or rain

- 4 to 25 July 2009 - Gold Coast Golden Idol
- A talent search for the over 55s of the Gold Coast. The entry fee is
$10 and the event will be held at the Commerce Club, Surfers Paradise.

Coast Airport Marathon - An event for all ages and abilities,
featuring a marathon, half marathon, 10km run, community walk and junior

The International Event
Management Summit - The summit will address the theme
‘Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Development’, especially the
increasing public pressure on events to address their environmental

On Our Selection -
Presented by The Phoenix Ensemble, this play is based on the short
stories written by Steele Rudd about life in the 1880s. The season opens on the
6 June (Queensland Day) and then runs from the 19 June to 11 July 2009. Pavilion

riding, bareback and saddle bronc, rope and tie steer wrestling, a
country fair, food, a licensed bar and live music. Entry is $15 for

Jumpers and Jazz
- A jazz festival that celebrates winter. Artists create colourful
jumpers for the 80 trees that line the main street of Warwick. (See Warwick.)
- 27 June to 18 July 2009 - Jury Room - Presented by
the Gold
Coast Little Theatre. 12 jury members agree to re-enact a crime in
the court room to determine the fate of a young woman accused of
murdering her uncle.
- 18 to 31 July 2009 - Leukaemia Foundation Doorknock
Appeal - Volunteers will be doorknocking to raise
vital funds for the five Queenslanders diagnosed each day with leukaemias
and related blood disorders. Funds collected will go towards research
and supporting patients and their families.
- 24 July (Friday) 2009 - Christmas in July -
Gold
Coast City Jazz Club in conjunction with Southport Yacht Club present a
dinner dance with music by The Swinging Jazz Cats and a three course
buffet dinner. 6.30pm to 11.00pm at the Southport Yacht Club. To attend,

Gold Coast Home Show and Outdoor
Adventure Show - Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors

National Nanna's Night - Organised by Mercy Health. The
event aims to raise awareness about Australia’s ageing population, future health

- 25 & 26 July 2009 - Annual Pioneer Rally
- 28th annual event featuring heritage working displays, arts and crafts, steam, diesel
and oil engines, classic and vintage cars and entertainment. Entry is $8
