• 14 October (Wednesday) 2009 - National Ride to Work Day - Ride to work to help reduce pollution, improve health and save money.
   
• 17 October (Saturday) 2009 - Gold Coast Lapidary Club Annual Open Day - There will handicrafts for sale as well as demonstrating by members. 9.00am to 4.00pm in the clubrooms at 80 Pacific Ave, Miami.
   
• 18 October (Sunday) 2009 - Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink - A women's only triathlon, raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
   
• 22 to 25 October 2009 - Indy 300 Grand Prix - On and off track entertainment, including champ cars and V8 supercars, all on the Gold Coast. (check accommodation available with booking.com)
   
• 24 October (Saturday) 2009 - Young Filmmakers Festival Queensland - The event aims to encourage all Queenslanders under the age of 18 to have a voice through film. There is no entry fee for the competition, awards night or festival.
   
• 26 October (Monday) 2009 - Pink Ribbon Day - Aiming to increase the awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
