*Richmond

Richmond was an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur, and is now a classified historic town famous for its Georgian architecture. These days, you'll find galleries, teashops, craft boutiques and museums in the stone buildings. Richmond claims Australia’s oldest bridge, built by convict labour between 1823 and 1825.

Richmond is in the Coal River Valley, 24 kilometres/15 miles east of Hobart along the B31. See a google map of Richmond
