Australia's only backpackers located directly on the beach!
PASSENGER FERRY Base Bus meets most of the passenger ferries that come in. The ferry leaves from Townsville about 12 times a day. This trip costs $26.00 return. When you get to the island, all you have to do is walk up to the bus and jump on. (Watch your head). If for some freaky chance the bus is not there, then jump on the public bus (again, watch your head), and tell the driver you want express to base Backpackers. This trip will break the bank, at around 90c per trip. CAR FERRY The car ferry is only a 2 minute drive from the base Townsville. This trip will cost around $120 per car, depending on the size and weight. When you get off the ferry, head down the windy road. When you approach the main road (Magnetic super highway) turn left, Stick to the road past the other terminal, past the supermarket. When you are driving along the road next to the beach, you will see the resort at the end of the stretch. No doubt you will also be able to hear the music as well.
