• 3 October (Friday) 2008 - National Walk to Work Day - Walk all or part of the way to work in order to achieve better health and cleaner air. Sign up today to become a Walking Class Hero or Corporate Ambassador - register at The Pedestrian Council
   
• 6 October (Monday) 2008 - QLD School Term 4 begins (Australian school holiday dates)

• 10 October (Friday) 2008 - RSPCA Happy Tails Day (See also No School Today: Fundraising Activities)
   
• 11 to 27 September 2008 - Townsville Eisteddfod Annual event, drawing up to 2,000 entries over 17 days with over 4,000 performances at the Townsville Civil Theatre and Townsville Choral Society Hall. Hundreds of volunteers make this event possible.  
   
• 1 September to 16 October 2008 - Tiwest Night Stalk - a national citizen-based spotlight survey to determine numbers and distribution of Australian native species and feral pests. Anyone can do it, all you need is a torch and a sense of adventure. See the website for instructions and a spotter's log.
   
• 24 to 26 October 2008 - Yungaburra Folk Festival (Atherton Tablelands).  Celebrating world-wide folk traditions through music, storytelling, circus, dance, and crafts, the festival features musicians, dancers, circus and fire artists, comedians and festival performers to entertain the crowds.
   
• 31 October (Thursday) 2008 - Halloween - see Halloween party products and costumes for children and adults

 
• 31 October (Friday) 2008 - Canteen National Bandanna Day - Proceeds go to CanTeen's community efforts. (See also No School Today: Fundraising Activities)
   
• To be confirmed 2008 - Motocross at Black River Stadium at Black River (Townsville region).  Free camping.

• To be confirmed 2008 - National Breast Cancer Foundation Pink Ribbon Breakfasts Pink Ribbon breakfasts are a fun, early morning get-together of friends, family or workmates to celebrate the achievements of breast cancer research and raise funds for further research.

• To be confirmed 2008 - Whitsunday Fantasea Reef Festival has events encompassing and showcasing all aspects of the Whitsundays' lifestyle - including carnivals, fireworks, food, wine, comedy, live music, theatre, fashions and fun for the kids!
