 Armidale New South Wales
Armidale is the administrative centre for the New England area of northern New South Wales. It is located on the
Northern Tablelands, a plateau of the Great Dividing Range approximately 1km above sea level. Because of its
altitude, Armidale has a mild climate, with distinct long spring and autumn periods, unlike
many parts of
Australia. The Autumn Festival is a major annual event in the city.
Armidale is a regional centre for bushwalking, surrounded as it is by the New England and Oxley Wild Rivers national
parks. Armidale is also home to the University of New England.
