1918 Bistro & Grill is situated in the wine region of the Barossa Valley, 60km drive North-East of Adelaide. Located in the main street of Tanunda next to the Seppeltsfield arch. The restaurant was originally opened in 1992 and derives its name from the foundation stone of which the year it was built.
Owners Christian and Melissa Fletcher are producing modern Australian cuisine which is prepared from seasonal and local produce. The extensive wine list specializes in local wines with many back vintages. Eat in the tranquil cottage style garden setting under shady trees and market umbrellas during the warmer months and around the cozy open log fires in winter.

As you know I am very much influenced by the seasons when it comes to cooking, so my Summer recipes tend to be made up of beautiful quivering jellies, fresh seafood served simply with verjuice and a slick of extra virgin olive oil and just plucked salad leaves. The simpler the better when the hot weather is with us. There is one thing I don’t compromise on in our warm climate though, and that’s a good old fashioned Christmas pudding, so full of Barossa fruit that there is no need for added sugar. And they’re ready now, so do try one this Christmas and enjoy the sparkly season!
