
Bribie Island, 65km north of Brisbane, has the closest surf beaches to Brisbane. Pumicestone Passage, which separates the island from the mainland, extends from Caloundra in the north to Deception Bay in the south. Visitors can drive to Bribie Island via the bridge from the mainland.
The island is 34km long and 8km wide and is mostly made up of parks. Popular activities on Bribie Island include bird watching and bushwalking in the National Park, boating and fishing in the Pumicestone Passage and cycling the many bike paths.
