December is the first month of Queensland's hot summer. Queensland does not use daylight saving (summertime). The whole state
remains on Eastern Standard time all year round.
Year 10 and 12 students have already finished school for the year, other
students begin summer holidays in mid-December. December's events are
mainly Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Because Christmas Day and Boxing Day are on a weekend this year, the
following Monday and Tuesday will be public holidays.
3 December (Monday) 2012 -
International Day of People with
Disability- Aims to promote an understanding of people with a disability
and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.
5 December (Wednesday) 2012 - International Volunteer Day
is celebrated on December 5th each year to thank volunteers for their
efforts and increase public awareness on their contribution to society
10 December (Monday) 2012 - International Human Rights
Day is celebrated on 10th December each year.
14 December (Friday) 2012 - Last day of
School Year for Brisbane and Qld schools
