Cancer Council Call to Arms
- An annual, national event to raise funds and awareness of cancer,
a disease that effects 1 in 2 men by age 85. To participate,
nominate any day in July to host a Call to Arms match where the
players in your sporting club wear a yellow armband in a show of
support to men who have survived cancer, those currently facing the
cancer fight and to remember mates who have lost their lives to
cancer. All funds raised go to the Cancer Council. Any sporting club
can join, so register by 26 June, contact 1300 65 65 85.

Shout Out Loud - A youth arts
and culture festival. The event includes bands, choirs, dance, drama, visual
art, fashion and more. Held at The J, Noosa Junction.

- The Northern Games.

- 10 to 12 July 2009 -
Queensland Home Garden
Expo - Featuring garden tools, books, accessories,
garden art, lectures, demonstrations, workshops and nearly 40,000
plants for sale daily. There will also be a Giant Kitchen Garden
featuring permaculture and organic gardening and floral art
competitions. 8.00am to 5.00pm at the Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Av, Nambour.

Abbey Medieval Festival
- The largest authentic medieval event in Australia. It
spans a thousand years from Europe's Dark Ages to the High Middle
Ages, roughly AD 600 to 1600. Abbey Place, off Old Toorbul Point

- 12 July (Sunday) 2009 -
Noosa Enduro
- 100km and 50km mountain bike rides to raise funds for the local charity,
The Shine
Project, which aims to assist victims of domestic and family violence on
the Sunshine Coast.

Voices on the Coast - A Youth Literature Festival
- Workshops, book-talks, storytelling, poetry and drama held at the
University of the Sunshine Coast. (See more book festivals at

- 15 to 31 July 2009 -
On the
Road to Recovery - Featuring still images, multimedia and other
information about the changes in legislation and practice in the delivery of
mental health services to Queenslanders over the last 150 years. As part of
the
Q150 celebrations. Free admission. 9.00am to 5.00pm daily in the foyer of Nambour Hospital on Hospital Rd.

Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic
- The event is hosted by the Rainbow Beach Sports Club and is open to
all ages and skill levels.
- 18 to 31 July 2009 - Leukaemia Foundation Doorknock
Appeal - Volunteers will be doorknocking to raise
vital funds for the five Queenslanders diagnosed each day with leukaemias
and related blood disorders. Funds collected will go towards research
and supporting patients and their families.
- 19 to 28 June 2009 - Noosa
Long Weekend - 10 days of drama, film, dance, music,
literary events, art, gourmet adventures and heritage walks. (For activities

- 21 July (Tuesday) 2009 -
Sunshine Coast Daily Careers Expo
- Meet with representatives from many Australian universities, private
training colleges, group employers, Government departments and more.
Admission is free. 10.30am to 2.00pm and 4.00pm to 7.00pm at Kings Champions
Centre, Tanawha.
- 24 July (Friday) 2009 - Viridian Vertical Walk -
Participants are invited to creative hats and costumes. The walk starts
under the bridge at Viridian Resort, Noosa Heads, then follows the stairs to the lookout,
down Viewland Dr, right into Attunga Heights, down the steps behind Picture
Point and finishing back at Viridian. (For activities and accommodation

- 25 July (Saturday) 2009 -
National Nanna's Night
- Organised by Mercy Health. The event aims to raise awareness about Australia’s ageing population, future health
needs and the need for care and inclusion of the aged.
- 25 & 26 July 2009 - Caloundra Quilters Biennial Quilt Show
- The show includes a quilt exhibition, a quilting challenge, a raffle, stalls,
refreshments and demonstrations. Entry is $5 per person. 9.00am to 4.00pm at the Caloundra Arts Centre, North St, Caloundra.

King of the Mountain
- The festival includes a craft market, thong throwing and entertainment.
The Mountain Challenge includes a fun run, quarter marathon and school
relays. Held at Stan Topper Park, Pomona.
