• 2 October (Friday) 2009 - Jeans for Genes Day - Wear your jeans and make a donation to the national children's charity Jeans for Genes. The annual event raises funds for children with genetic disorders. (See No School Today: Fundraising Activities.)
   
• 2 October (Friday) 2009 - National Walk to Work Day
   
• 3 & 4 October 2009 - Coolum Kite Festival - Featuring kite-surfers, parachute jumps, a music festival and more held on Coolum Beach and at Stumers Creek. (See Coolum.)

• 26 September to 4 October 2009 - Kenilworth Celebrates! - A festival of visual and performing arts presented by the Kenilworth Arts Council Inc. The program includes workshops, a poets' breakfast, art exhibitions, street entertainment and live performance. See the festival program.

• 24 October (Saturday) 2009 - Sunshine Coast Pride Fair - Aims to link lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Lake Kawana Community Centre.
   
• 24 October (Saturday) 2009 - Young Filmmakers Festival Queensland - The event aims to encourage all Queenslanders under the age of 18 to have a voice through film. There is no entry fee for the competition, awards night or festival.
   
• 25 October (Sunday) 2009 - A Classical Celebration for Queensland's 150th Birthday - Featuring Attilla Sautov and his orchestra performing works by Mozart, Bach, Haydn, Paganini, Sarasate, Bohm, Kabalewsky and Strauss. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for concession, $15 for teenagers and free for children under 12. 2.00pm at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Main St, Buderim.
