  • First Sunday of every month - Chenrezig Buddhist Institute Open Day - A day to explore the external landscape of 160 acres of subtropical rain forest or to explore the inner landscape of the mind through guided meditation and tours, kids club, vegetarian lunch with real coffee and a talk with a Tibetan Lama.   • 11 & 12 October 2008 - Coolum Kite Festival - Kite flyers from all over the world will be attending. Plus there will be roving entertainers, kite surfers, live bands and skydivers. Event is free.
     
  • 15 October (Wednesday) 2008 - National Ride to Work Day - Registration for the event is free and riders are welcome to attend free community breakfasts which will be held throughout the country.
     
  • 1 September to 16 October 2008 - Tiwest Night Stalk - a national citizen-based spotlight survey to determine numbers and distribution of Australian native species and feral pests. Anyone can do it, all you need is a torch and a sense of adventure. See the website for instructions and a spotter's log.
     
  • 17 to 19 October 2008 - Caloundra Music Festival - National and international artists, beachside carnival, street parade, multicultural village, kids entertainment, markets and workshops. Adults $89, Concession $65, Youth (13-17) $65, Under 13 Free. Kings Beach Park. Book online through the Caloundra Music Festival
     
  • 19 October (Sunday) 2008 - International Spring Festival of Classical Music - Concert violinist Attilla Sautov and the Mueller International Chamber Orchestra will perform classic works by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and many more. Adults $30, Concessions and Students $20, Children under 12 free. 3:00pm at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Main Street, Buderim. Tickets are available before the concert from 2:00pm or to book in advance call 0424 780 389.
     
  • 25 October (Saturday) 2008 - Sunshine Coast Law Association Masquerade Ball and Charity Auction - Two-course dinner and entertainment. 6:30pm to Midnight at the Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina.
