• 7 to 11 January 2009 - Parkes Elvis Festival, Central NSW - Annual Elvis Presley themed festival.  Features a parade, concerts, outdoor entertainment, busking, Elvis Gospel Church Service, look-a-like, sound-a-like and move-a-like contests.
   
• 16 to 18 January 2009 - Thredbo Blues Festival a 3-day celebration of Blues & Roots music throughout spectacular Thredbo organised by Tourism Thredbo.

• The Jane McGrath Classic - This event will be incorporated in the Sutherland Shire Council Australia Day festivities held on Cronulla Beach every year. 

• Darling Harbour Australia Day Darling Harbour will stage an all-day feast of international food, performing artists, live bands, face painting and interactive shows for the kids. A majestic finale to the day will include fireworks, a parade of tall ships sailing around Cockle Bay, digital effects, pyrotechnics and music.

• The Rocks Australia Day Live Music An incredible line-up of blues, roots and rock talent across five stages, and buskers throughout The Rocks' streets and laneways. From 10am to 9pm.
