North Stradbroke Island is 30km south-east from Brisbane, and is accessible by car ferries from Cleveland on the mainland to Dunwich on the island. In 1896 Stradbroke Island was separated by a storm forming the Jumpinin Channel, forming North Stradbroke Island and South Stradbroke Island.
The island is known as “Straddie” to the locals. Amity Point and Point Lookout are at the north-eastern tip of the island. North Stradbroke is in the Redland Shire Council local government area.
