Belconnen region is north-west of Canberra's city centre. At its centre is an artificial , ornamental lake, Lake Ginninderra, which runs into Ginninderra Creek and then to Murrumbidgee River.
The University of Canberra is in the Belconnen suburb of Bruce. The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) also has a campus in Bruce.
