A Community Verge Garden Visit; A Verge Adoption Tale
Posted 2 weeks ago by
An open verge garden event, a leisurely walk through a Maylands street side verge garden and adopted open space/parkland. We are honoured to casually talk you through a residents journey of adopting a verge which was the catalyst to inspire the incremental adoption of a streetscape.
This lovely example of a simple resident verge adoption is a snap shot from a street wtihin the City of Bayswater, arguably the municiplaity with the most accomodating street/verge & parkland garden policy within Australia.
As a beacon for enabling residents to make their streets greener, we would love to share the journey from stepping out on the verge to make the most of available space to being inspired to increase the local native biodiversity and to reduce the urban heat island effect through planting native seedlings.
We will provide a discussion format, answer any questions, and weather permitting provide an opportunity to plant a few native seedlings to mark the event.
We will discuss verge policy, barriers to adopting a verge and all the positives that are to be gained from adopting a verge garden or street side landscape.
Refreshments/morning tea will be provided at the end for a chance to network and share ideas.
Please note that there are no public amenities available, so please be aware you may have to travel to a local facilty if required as this is an open garden event on a public street & private residence.
We will email specifics for location closer to the date, however, the basic location is provided.
