Abbotsford is to the west of the Sydney CBD, nearly halfway between Sydney and Parramatta, and it neighbours the suburbs of Chiswick and Wareemba. Abbotsford backs onto the Hen and Chicken Bay, and there are a number of reserves along its edges, including Henry Lawson Park. The Great North Road extends through the centre of the suburb up to its tip, finishing at the Werrell Reserve.
