The Rocks Sydney NSW 2000
The Rocks is the site of Australia’s first European settlement in 1788. This area was originally home to local Indigenous people, the Cadigal.
The Rocks can be a bit touristy but is also very interesting.
Under the southern (CBD) end of the Story Bridge and beside Circular Quay, the old buildings, stairs, laneways are mixed in with modern high-rise architecture. There is a large tourist information centre, redeveloped wharves, lots of art galleries, restaurants, pubs and a regular market.
