Woolloomooloo is a harbourside suburb 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, accessible by foot through the Domain or road from Kings Cross and Potts Point. Although historically a poorer working class district of Sydney, there has been much recent gentrification, redevelopment, and the development of a boutique hotel (pic right), residential suites, bars and restaurants on Finger Wharf.
There is no University of Woolloomooloo, it was made up by the Monty Python crew for their “Bruces” sketch. Woolloomooloo also became known from the picture book “The kangaroo from Woolloomooloo“, written by Joy Cowley which is now unfortunately out of print.
