Phillip Island

Phillip Island is a small island off the coast of the south west corner of Victoria, famous for its international motorcycle and car racing events on the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit –  the Superbike World Championship and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Car racing includes the Australian Touring Car Championship, V8 Supercars, Island Magic, Historic Car and other racing events.

However, Philip Island is also known for its wildlife, the Phillip Island Wildlife Park, Koala Conservation Centre and Oswin Roberts Reserve which provide a safe home for the island's koala population, and tracks and boardwalks along the rugged south coast. The Rhyll Wetlands and Rhyll Inlet are popular for bird watching. The Churchill Island Festival is held every Easter and Farmers Markets held monthly on Churchill Island. Cowes, on the northern side of the island, is the main town on Phillip Island. Cowes night markets are run on the Esplanade during the summer months.

The main towns on the island are Beachcomber, Cowes, Newhaven, Rhyll and San Remo, and its main attractions are its abundance of fairy penguins.
